The primary function of Tuffreel vapour barrier is to control the movement of interstitial condensation within a structure. Persistent exposure to high moisture levels within the structure can cause decay of timber, corrosion of metal parts ( e.g. nails, connectors etc ) , reduction in insulation values and adversely affect masonary. Condensation will occur when saturated warm air comes into contact with a cold surface or cooler air. Tuffreel vapour barrier is specifically designed for use as a vapour barrier to be applied to the warm side of insulation and should be installed according to the recommendations of BS5250:2002 .
